Mora Update #1

511/ 510 and wood carvers

Selection from my collection of Mora Knives:
The 511 and 511 modded into the 510 by removing the finger guard,
this makes it a great all around camp/ carving knife.
The sheath has also been modified to hold a fire-steel.

Wood carving Mora knives including the 120,
the double edged spoon knife and
the classic number 1.

Carbon blades take on a great patina over time,
patina was created on this knife by cutting an onion and
a tomato, the 510 also makes a great kitchen knife.

Dispatches from the Shed

Hobo Woodburner is now installed in the shed and works a treat, just the thing for our inclement Easter weather. Burns very well and not too smokey.

befitting with the Antarctic feel, Shackleton keeps a watch over proceedings.

Happy Easter

Hobo Wood Burner Mk 2 (now with bread/ potato oven)

Some more adventures in hobo stoving

We have added a top section to the Hobo Wood Burner, a bread/ potato oven (section on ground)

The oven is now in three parts, the bottom section and the second section are the combustion areas, this is where wood is fed and burned

Lighting the stove is easy, simply remove the other two sections and start fire in the combustion box

Spuds in and the kettle on

The top section (still coloured purple) is the oven, the heat from the combustion sections underneath heats the oven chamber, this is also heated by the chimney that runs up through the middle of the oven. This means that there is no live flame in the oven. Things are cooked by baking

It took about 12 minutes for a rolling boil in the kettle and just over half an hour for the spuds to be very well cooked
