Some more adventures in hobo stoving
We have added a top section to the Hobo Wood Burner, a bread/ potato oven (section on ground)
The oven is now in three parts, the bottom section and the second section are the combustion areas, this is where wood is fed and burned
Lighting the stove is easy, simply remove the other two sections and start fire in the combustion box
Spuds in and the kettle on
The top section (still coloured purple) is the oven, the heat from the combustion sections underneath heats the oven chamber, this is also heated by the chimney that runs up through the middle of the oven. This means that there is no live flame in the oven. Things are cooked by baking
It took about 12 minutes for a rolling boil in the kettle and just over half an hour for the spuds to be very well cooked
Hobo children waiting for dinner and a cup of tea
The children look as though they have been waiting for quite a while - how long would you say a typical baking-sized potato take on the mk2?
ReplyDeleteAbout 35-40 mins, was just wondering how we'll get on with the Christmas roast B¬) x
